Amnezia-vpn: API timeout (errors 1100/1103)

Problem description I’m trying to use AmneziaVPN 5.0.0.5 from nixpkgs, but I’m running into API timeout issues. When attempting to activate configuration using premium key starting with vpn:// the client fails with errors 1100 and 1103. On the exact same Wi-Fi network and router both my Android phone and my Windows 11 installation (on the same dualboot laptop) work correctly with vpn:// key.
