Code annotations for snippets

Now that code block annotations are supported (and soon to be non-experimental?), has there been any discussion on bringing that functionality over to snippets? It would be nice to get the benefits of compiled example code in docs while still being able to highlight lines. I understand some annotations may not make sense for snippets, such as line numbers since that doesn't play nicely with slices, but overall the feature does seem useful for snippets.
