Performance gain of building Julia from source

Is there any concrete performance gain from building Julia from source locally? If yes, does anyone have ballparks for expected speedup and tips for navigating Julia’s Make.inc with performance-oriented options? I have noticed building from source automatically sets MARCH to native, which should provide a speedup compared to juliaup’s installation.
