Four full reads of a 4 MB text file to decide one listing, on the thread that serves our UI

An append-only NDJSON ledger with a fold on read is lovely until you count the reads. Ours answers four questions per candidate listing, each one parsing the whole file, and the cap that stops it growing is checked by exactly one function.
